Boxing Day (A.k.a. My Life in Boxes?)

It's the day after what can only be described as a great Christmas. I got most of what I asked for, so that worked out well. And, after much searching and deliberation, I was able to find nice gifts for all my family and friends. For me, I got a nice new coat for the frigid east coast winters that should eventually come. We hope. And a pair of new snow boots, for all the snow that may present itself one day.

Colorado is loverly as usual. Last week was spent working, skating, and generally relaxing with friends and family. I saw my best friend ever, Gloria, and her adorable new puppy. I shall have to return shortly to get my puppy-fix. Daisy is great, but not as silly or cracked out as the puppy. I love snuggling up with Daisy and watching the snow-covered world go about its business. There's something truly magical about white Christmases.

My plan for the next week or so is to see more friends and work more. And skate more. But I also plan to clear out my room and keep only the necessities. I hope to donate what I do not need to Goodwill or something of the like. I am very lucky to lead the life I do, so to have any excesses seems rude and unnecessary. Plus, my feng shui will be much better with my room de-cluttered.

Pre-Xmas Blues

Finally finished finals today. (How's that for alliteration?) I think/ hope they went well. Don't want this expensive education going down the drain.

Sunday morning I will be returning to BoCo, for some much needed rest and family time. In addition to seeing all my friends from High School, I will be working and skating. A lot. But that sounds pretty good to me.

Lately, I've been thinking about my direction in life, and what I want to get out of college. I entered with the full awareness that I have no idea of what I want to do for a living and no clue what kind of co-ops to look for. I've felt very lost for the past few weeks. I have learned that I love languages, something I would not have expected a year ago. This past year of my life has truly changed me and shaped who I am today. I feel like I have come to know myself better, and understand who I am. But at the same time, I don't know what I am doing. At this point in my life, I feel like I need to start thinking about what I want from relationships with people, from my education, and from living in Boston.

I want to be more involved in things I care about. Really contribute to the world.

On that note, I had a wonderful day avec Kassie. We went xmas shopping and to a used bookstore with our fancy coffee cups, mine had peppermint hot chocolate without the chocolate, it was delightful. We felt so hipster. Until we realized we weren't.

All I Can Think About is Sleep

The past week I have gotten an average of about 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night. I truly cannot survive on this little sleep. I think my brain and body are trying to tell me to get the fuck to sleep. But, I have reached the point of no return. Sleep does not come to me. Nor do coherent thoughts.

Last night was spend studying French and Linguistics to prepare for the finals I had to take this morning. They went fairly well. Except I've been so very very tired all day. I need to wake up. Since I last posted I have essentially been in a haze. I watched a movie with Andy, Al, Iris and Sean. It was really not that good, but made for a good evening. Then I stayed and talked to Andy for a few hours, bitching about life. He makes for a good faux therapist.

So what's up for this weekend? Well tonight I do believe there will be some sort of synchro sleepover, with the intent to sleep. Then tomorrow night I think there's going to be a 9th floor gathering. I invited my BU friend Chris, but who knows if he will come. I haven't seen him in what feels like forever, so hopefully he will show up.

Who Knows What Day it is Anymore

So, it's been a great long while since I last posted. But, for the sake of others, I'll post again.
In the past few weeks so much has happened. I went home to BoCo, which was great. It was weird being back, like I remembered all the reasons I left, but I still loved being home. I got to see a lot of my good friends which was super nice. Gloria, Cat, Jazz and I went to Pearl and Jazz and I got feathers, which are still in. Mine are orange/brown, purple, and turquoise. I really like them; they stay well hidden when I want them, but they show enough that it is clear they are there.

Last weekend our team went to Porter in MI and competed. It was fantastic. I got to skate, so I was happy with just that. But then... WE GOT FOURTH!!!!!!!!!! It is a truly amazing feeling to do so well and be with the people you love and share the experience with them. TXLC feels like home to me know. These girls are like my family. Love you all!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday my Mom came to Boston to visit me and watch my Starlight test. FYI the Starlight Waltz was my last Pre-Gold dance test, so I am now a Pre-Gold metalist! Four more 'til I am a double gold!!!! I tested at Burlington, which was freezing and an entirely new experience for me. It was bittersweet not having my old coaches there, but it was great testing with my new one. New chapter in life. The quality of skating there was not as high as at RMFSC, so I don't feel like I accomplished much. I am very glad I passed the test, because I had failed it at home twice, but the test I put out yesterday did not feel any better than the ones I did at home. So I guess I am torn.

Finals are this week. I have my French one on Friday, as well as my Linguistics final. I need to seriously learn French now, because....(drumroll)... I am going to France next summer. Yep, thats right folks, I got into the French Dialogue to Annecy. So next May and June I will be living the good life in France. Meeting French boys, soaking up French culture, eating baguettes. Who knows, maybe I won't come back to America for love of France!

I go back home in 12 or so days, and I am so excited to see my friends from home. I really can't wait to skate at home again, for some reason the ice there feels better, and I feel like I skate better there, but maybe I'm just biased. I hope to have a fun NYE with my HS friends, even though the one I really want to see that night won't be in town. :( Oh well. Everything happens for a reason.

Day 4

So yesterday we had synchro practice which was brutal cause it was freezing in the rink. It's always freezing there. But we got a lot done on the program, even though our coach did not make any spot changes like she said she would. We have a big competition coming up in a few weeks, and I really hope I get to skate in it.

After practice, Amy, Casey, and I went to Becky's house and spent the night. It was really fun, we played this card game I had never played before, and I definitely enjoyed it and want to play again. Becky let me drive her car and cook dinner which was awesome and made me miss home. This morning we made blueberry pancakes and they were fantastic.

Casey and I got lost on the way home. My bad. We took the walking directions on her iphone instead of the driving directions. Thought it looked a little odd that the trip was gonna take 9 hours....

I am going back to Boulder on Tuesday and I can't wait to see my car and my puppy. And my parents I guess. It'll be a short lived trip, but I am still glad to be going home for a few days. When is it acceptable to start packing? I'd really like to forgo homework and start packing now, but I won't. Need to keep my priorities straight... Darn.

Off to pack!

Day 2

Finally got registered for classes, so my stress level is significantly less. I will be taking Psych of Lang, Linguistic Analysis, French 2 and Spanish. Very different from my science heavy schedules in high school, but so much better. I never used to like Spanish all that much, however, learning French has made me miss Spanish so I am going to continue with both languages. I think I will be able to keep the languages separate in my head. Je ne peut pas parler como Tarzan nunca mas. Oh dear, downwards spiral, this next semester has the chance to be a hot mess of confusion. I look forward to it!

Last night I watched Inception with Andy, Amy, and Jaco. Such a wonderful and mind-bending movie. But oh so long. Still, I'm glad we watched it. I ended up falling asleep in Andy's room at like 3am, and later went back to my room only to keep waking up with fears of registration. I felt like a child on Christmas Eve, not able to sleep due to excitement of the next morning. Except I'm not sure why I kept waking up. I just didn't sleep well, maybe I was really nervous for registration, or excited for tonight. Either way I am exhausted now.

Tonight the one and only Russell Brand is performing on campus! So excited. Chris is coming to watch with me, I believe. Chris is my friend from Boulder who goes to BU, and he is awesome. I've known him for a few years, and I'm really happy we are both in Boston now. Also, today is Frisbee Friday. Every Friday a group of us get together to play Ultimate Frisbee in the park by IV, and it's always super fun.

Ta Ta for now, I am going to take a nap and do my doomed Shakespeare project.

Day 1.5

Day 1.1? Or Day 1.5? It's nearing the end of the day, but I have more to say... So 1.5 I guess.
On a sad note, my good friend Andy recently broke up with his long-distance girlfriend, and I want to shout out to him and say that we in IV are all here for him. I hope that things will improve, and just know that even though times are rough, they will get better. So for now, I'm here on floor 2 for you, buddy!

Looking forward to watching Inception, and have watched way too much TV tonight with Kassie, a fellow 2nd floorer. Tomorrow is registration. I am so stressed about it, like my entire body is freaking out. All my classes are filling up so fast, but hopefully I will still be able to get into them!

Day 1

Brief rundown of me: I am a freshman in the city of scholars: BOSTON! But, I'm originally from Boulder, so I guess you could call me a hippie. I am a synchro skater, and it pretty much defines me. I'm a linguistics major, and potentially Spanish and French minor, so clearly I am good with the words.

My [radio] show was awesome today. Shout out to Amy! She makes everything even more enjoyable. Maybe one day we will figure out how to make both microphones work... That's a lot to expect. But I have faith. She was in charge of the playlist today, it made a nice change. We listened to hip-hop and reggae. Usually I play indie and classic rock, but it's always good to listen to new things.

Class today was blah. I did not go to Shakespeare class today. It didn't seem necessary. Really I hadn't read the play, and I have a cold again, so I decided to stay in my room and watch Twilight. Life at NU is good, I feel like I am not making the most it yet. I know things will get more amusing, and life will pick up. So for now I am excited for thanksgiving break and practice Saturday.
